If you were in the exact middle of the bridge when it collapsed you'd be like 300 feet from shore, which sounds pretty far I guess, but it's not. In reality, it's a bit less than 2 lengths of a swimming pool. If you can swim to one end of a pool and back and remain conscious after hitting the water, this is basically just a surprise bath to wash off a hard day's curry sweat. Fuck. I bet like 100 of the 134 who died knew how to swim, but the 34 who didn't know how fucking murdered them by trying to use them as floatation devices. As drowning niggas are wont to do. This is why you gotta teach your kids how to swim, man, 'cause drowning turns you into a fucking retard who will murder anybody within arms reach to survive another 30 seconds, even if that person was coming to rescue you and could have saved you.
EDIT: I guess 300 feet is kinda deceptive since it's a river and the current pushes you parallel to the shoreline, but swimming downriver at an angle and using that momentum to your advantage would probably make reaching shore less exhausting than 2 laps of a pool.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

People know I have a good heart They also know if there is trouble with strangers or random assholes I've got there back and there damned glad to have me in their corner.

Technical knowledge in heaps back then, even in domains like spirituality (which some, including my younger self, might conflate with wisdom). Really not sure we've ever valued or attracted the wise though.
Then again, I suppose that doesn't preclude the existence of a "wisest" amongst our unwise flock. There are probably a lot of people with wisdom in different domains. If I had to pick... candyrein, maybe? I have at least one criteria for wisdom in common with mmQ, and she seems to not particularly value this place (that is to say she values it appropriately). She just comes here to post in a handful of threads, keep tabs on people she knows and cares about, but otherwise she's genuinely just here for a laugh and doesn't seem too caught up in whatever our particular bullshit is. CASPER probably has the most wisdom when it comes to the degenerate drug fueled alt lifestyle this community is known for. Speedy is probably the most conventionally 'wise', just on account of age and having seen enough shit over that timeframe.
