the military during WWII put them in rations and my pops had some from WWII way back in the late 70s and we opened up the rations. some of it went bad. the spam type of can went bad. but the chocolate bar tasted as fresh as it probably was nearly 40 years earlier
Also I worked at a drugstore chain and we resold halloween candy not picked up the year(s) before. rotating wasn't an issue. it still stold and still tasted fresh.
