2019-07-06 at 5 AM UTC in Proof Trump's wall won't stop drugs coming in to the countryIllegal aliens aren't prosecuted for drug smuggling. That's why they don't show up in the convictions. Instead of prosecuting them for murder, drugs, what-have-you, they sentence them to deportation. Problem is, they don't deport them, but simply release them back into the wild, so they can go right back to what they were doing.

They say they don't have any more room in the jails, so they just let them go without prosecuting them and issue them a summons to come to immigration court, but they never show up.. -

2019-07-08 at 10:51 PM UTC in wHAt ArE yOU rEAdiNG?I'm re-reading the original, uncut version of "Off Season", by Jack Ketchum. It's about a family of cannibals who live in the woods and drop down on people and chain them up and then eat them and stuff. Some of the events in it are so graphic and descriptive it blows the mind. In the edited version, they've cut out and deleted and edited all the really good parts.

2019-07-08 at 4:21 AM UTC in Best conspiracy theoriesThe International Business Times reported that papers filed in a 2006 lawsuit alleged that Epstein installed concealed cameras in numerous places on his property to record sexual activity with underage girls by prominent people for criminal purposes, such as blackmail. Epstein allegedly "lent" girls to powerful people to ingratiate himself with them and also to gain possible blackmail information. In 2015, evidence came to light that one of the powerful men at Epstein's mansion may have been Prince Andrew, Duke of York. A former employee told the police that Epstein would receive massages three times a day. Eventually the FBI received accounts from 36 girls whose allegations of molestation by Epstein included overlapping details. The investigation resulted in a 53-page federal indictment. Alexander Acosta, then the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, agreed to a plea deal in which the government agreed to grant immunity from all federal criminal charges to Epstein, along with four co-conspirators and any unnamed “potential co-conspirators”. The deal halted the investigation and sealed the indictment. Epstein agreed to plead guilty to state prostitution charges, register as a sex offender, and pay restitution to three dozen victims identified by the FBI. The Guardian said, "Despite this, the US government eventually agreed to allow Epstein to plead guilty to just one count of soliciting prostitution from an underage girl under Florida state law. Epstein agreed not to contest civil claims brought by the 40 women identified by the FBI, but escaped a prosecution that could have seen him jailed for the rest of his life." In May 2006, Palm Beach police filed a probable cause affidavit saying that Epstein should be charged with four counts of unlawful sex with minors and one molestation count. His team of defense lawyers included Gerald Lefcourt, Alan Dershowitz, and later Ken Starr. After the federal government agreed to charging Epstein on one count under state law, the prosecution convened a grand jury. Then chief of Palm Beach police Michael Reiter later wrote to State Attorney Barry Krischer to complain of the state's "highly unusual" conduct and asked him to remove himself from the case. The grand jury returned a single charge of felony solicitation of prostitution, to which Epstein pleaded not guilty in August 2006. In June 2008, after Epstein pleaded guilty to a single state charge of soliciting prostitution from girls as young as 14, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Instead of being sent to state prison like the majority of sex offenders convicted in Florida, Epstein was housed in a private wing of the Palm Beach County stockade. He was able to hire his own security detail and was allowed "work release" to his downtown office for up to 12 hours a day six days a week. He served 13 months before being released for a year of probation. While on probation he was allowed numerous trips on his corporate jet to his homes in Manhattan and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

2019-07-07 at 12:12 PM UTC in 28 (sober) days later...
Originally posted by gadzooks I just did four full weeks of the sober life.
My ultimate goal was not simply being sober all that time (although I did achieve that), but rather scratching a bunch of things off the old TODO list, and staying sober has helped me achieve said goal.
Not only that, but the whole thing gave me a whole lot of fresh perspective.
For one thing, I now know how toxic/detrimental my recent living conditions were against any kind of positive and beneficial growth.
This last month, I've been holed up at my mom's house two towns over, and have been blessed with all kinds of serenity and peace from the homeless hordes and their sketchy scandalous ways.
I got a fuck ton done during this time… made serious strides towards some longstanding, often stagnant, life goals. And fourdaysweeks of sobriety has giving me some life-changing perspective.
In the interest of full disclosure: I'm sippin' a lil' sumthin' right now, ngl… tbh…
But I planned this weeks ago so it's all good.
I've been wandering around my old stomping grounds tonight, absorbing the nostalgia and just enjoying the change of venue.
Moral of the story… If you ever feel like life isn't quite treating you right, change things up. It's a miracle panacea for whatever ails ya. Trust me on that.
You're alive!!! -
