yeah I think I have actually seem this exact stanford thing before. IT was all over the science news a few years ago and I haven't heard much since, I assumed industry was getting involved and figuring out how to use this to cut out reliance on agricultural and petrochemical products because those really have nothing to do with BIG PHARMA and if your in the business of making MEDICINE for a living you would ideally want to avoid buying as much raw material as you could
make everything yourself. A lot of the reason stuff like insulin costs so much is because there isn't research being put into manufacturing improvements like this because regulation doesn't favor innovation
I think you can even homebrew insulin now and probably tranny hormones/steroids too.

I actually don't know much about it, by the time I herd about it years ago I was already bored of "BREW YOUR OWN DRUGS" type chemistry as it seemed unrealistic to me at any real scale
but with the way global markets are now and recent advances in science I think this is a lot more acessible to amateur chemists. Ever since seeing this moonshine toilet paper I am thinking a lot of this isn't as hard as it seems
Biology and gene splicing seems like some future tek but probably can/should be made to be more DIY to emable clandestine drugs 2.0
Because the only economic incentive to making drugs benefits criminal organizations now, small private research is 100% cost funded
or you could start a youtube channel I suppose
