That is to say, your release will get more promotion, likelier to get a physical release, likelier to be on the CF catalog instead of CFR, bigger gap until the next release, etc.
While it is not a requirement, we strongly recommend releasing your work under a Creative Commons license. We are a very political and strongly anti-copyright organization. Our specific recommendation is CC BY-SA 4.0. We say this license specifically because we believe ShareAlike is important. ShareAlike makes it so anyone making derivative works of your works must also use the same license. This prevents people from stealing your work without really giving anything back, as instead people are forced to give back to the world's creative commons.
