Like in some children's books and stuff like Tom and Jerry they will sometimes show you their tiny homes made of human objects, I always thought that was so cozy and cool.
Even in video games sometimes there is environmental story telling that shows signs of someone living in a forgotten access tunnel or rafters or something, perhaps the owner left it behind long ago. These always give me a weird warm feeling. It's hard to describe what it is that I actually like about them. Probably the idea of having a secret little home right in the middle of shit, like literally where it would normally be impossible. I imagine one could disappear to their secret home in a pinch... But then again, the risk of it being discovered means you can never really feel at home.
I kind of find the whole concept of improvised/secret dwellings, specially in urban settings like homeless people hovels fascinating.
I'd love to build an ultimate hobo hole in some abandoned underground structure. I remember I always used to think the cavernous sewer base that the Ninja Turtles used seemed pretty rad.
Obviously you don't want sewage running through your home but it's the whole idea of having a space that isn't meant for living, improvised into a secret home.
Islam kind of has it covered as far as not letting anyone be superior to another but people still find ways to show off. I remember during my first Umrah seeing the poor man with his plain white sheets versus the rich man with his 3 safety pinned towel type sheet that is designed to be as comfortable as possible while still technically being one unsewn sheet of fabric. People will find yin and yang wherever they can.
