Resolution isn't 1 dimensional retard. Did you really just try to assert that their relation is based on their naming convention using vertical resolution?
480p = 640*480
720p = 1280*720
(1280*720)/(640*480)=3
I.e. it is simply 3 480p images taped together.
You can make resolution however big you want, it makes no difference because the human eye can't resolve over 480p. -
