I ask chinese coworkers (who I believed to be my friend) how to say something in Chinese but most of the time they look at me and say "Naw, just focus on work" or something to get out of telling me.

The only thing we all said was "Aye Yaa" like "WTF" or whatever the literal translation is. more of a grunt noise of disappointment when your car breaks down. Cantonese seems easier to learn, but I keep forgetting what I learn. it's hard to associate word for word. I need Rosetta stone, then blend in with friends willing to teach me connotations and perhaps watch Chinese children shows as well as Soap Operas or Chinese Drama.
