Probably squirrels 🐿, after he traps a few, if they’re not smart enough to grab the bait without getting trapped more will come.
We had squirrels in the attic, landlord had carpenters patch the holes closed. Within 2 months they managed to pry away the patches and got back in.
We used these Just One Bite II 16 oz. Rodent Rat Bait Cake Blocks 44.99 - (Pack of 8) poison blocks as bait in the same cheap traps. Break them into smaller pieces and watch them disappear along with the squirrels or any other rodents who eat them.
