From the reddit post, all I can see is a man who was positively surprised with a good service (as I said, they don't do that everywhere), and overall had a nice evening out with her partner. That's about it.
I had a similar experience about 6 years ago. I went out for dinner to a restaurant I had never been before. I ordered a past that I had never tried before as well. I didn't like it. There was nothing wrong with the preparation, just not my thing. I didn't ask for another dish. The waitress asked me if I wanted smth else, no problem. I said: "No, thank you. I am not even that hungry tbh and everything is fine. Just the dessert."
In the end, when she came with the bill, they had excluded my dish. I asked why, that I had no problem with paying it cause there was nothing wrong with it. She insisted that because I didn't eat I wasn't going to pay. I said thank you and left.
I thought it was nice of them and that's it. I never went back there. lol Not because there was anything wrong really, but when I go out for dinner I usually like to go to those 3-4 places I'm found of and used to. This to say that people don't become idiots or need to "boost their egos", just because a nice service in a restaurants. -

Doing what Sherlock? Don't presume to know me or my habits about food. Where I eat, where I go and how am I used to. Don't embarrass yourself with stupid assumptions. I don't go out for dinner just to eat some food. I can cook and eat at home for that.
You go out for various reasons and one of them is to pass a good nice evening, in good company, where there is good food, possibly in a nice place where you feel served well.
I asked you a simple question. What's the problem with a good service in a restaurants? Why is that a big deal, you live in a cavern or smth? If you think courtesy isn't important, not just in a restaurant but everywhere, you are being delusional. But judging by your reply to me, that would seem to be a foreign concept to you. Carry on.
