The modem/access point is around 330 US ( i paid a bit more for an added GPS radio built-in, also with external antenna connector ) , 30ea x2 for external cellular antennas, I opted to purchase a voltage regulator for $50 to professionally hard-wire the power supply in my vehicle but the modem of course comes with a typical 120v power supply, and for neater cabling i got matching right-angle SMA terminated coax pigtails about 6 bux ea. Used a few screws and bushings/spacers and electrical butt-splices I have on-hand to mount the device, maybe a couple bucks worth of misc. So about 455, and I still need to come up with a neat weatherproof way to bring the antenna cables into the vehicle so probably a few bucks more.

The first pic is actually sitting right at the edge of this building where it seems to pull the best signal . Honestly a Samsung 8 large phone pulls-in nearly as good up/down speeds ( yeah the phone shows LTE+ in this location)in the same location BUT my computer is across the building, so I have to leave my phone far away where it can pull a signal to tether and then I don't hear it ring or messages coming in. Now I have mounted the MOFI in a vehicle, which I park inside - in this location the MOFI outshines the phone far - the cellphone struggles to transmit out and it seems to take a long time for a request to get out when I click to load something.
With the new antennas external to the vehicle it stomps the shit out of the phone anywhere in the same building. If I was going to be here long-term I would probably throw a set of directional antennas on the roof - a lot of people use this unit successfully for rural internet where there are no other high speed options.
Now I'm in the back corner of the building with my phone in my pocket/ on the desk where it belongs , and with wifi calling enabled. Back in the corner here with a cellular connection it would be absolute shite service back here not putting calls through and constantly dropping audio in calls.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

Starting to get pretty good. Kind of randomly chose a Speedtest server several hundred miles away, I get pings in the 40-50s mS range if I test more locally. All testing done through 802.11N wifi connection at "Excellent" signal strength. Kind of interesting how much better the download rates are with better antenna setup, considering those signal strengths are still quite poor. Upload is still so-so, I might get some amplifiers to experiment with but I don't know if they will play nice in a MIMO arrangement. Gonna play with speedtests parked outdoors, and study up on optimal antenna spacing to try and eek some more performance out.

Mockingbird and the Propaganda Assets Inventory have their roots in another time, where news-selling institutions were profitable and didn't need government assistance, but they were 'patriotic' in that intelligence agencies were able to get hooks into enough people to convince the whole that it was 'un-American' to deviate from the state narrative. Today that 'direct' reach is lessened, but due to print newspapers being obsolete and news companies being unable to compete with the internet, a similar level of control is maintained financially through government grants and kickbacks.
That's an interesting dynamic that's well illustrated in the book 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman' which I just finished - the author, one of the first generation was guided by the NSA and explicitly told he was being contracted to destroy economies to indebt them to the US. As time goes on, idealogues and profiteers take his place; people who genuinely believe that they're doing good work or literally don't care as long as they get paid, doing the work of the state/treasury department without ever knowing that their work is being orchestrated as a larger political warfare campaign.
In terms of the comparison between journalists, 'citizen-journalists' and intelligence operatives, it's probably dishonest to lump them all together as they collect different types of information and, more importantly, use it for different ends. I feel that the internet and social media (literally the one thing I can praise it for) have significantly improved journalism on the whole because 'citizen-journalists', or just people with cameras in their pockets, have been slowly eroding the credibility of centralised, government-sponsored news.
