The jedis went around telling everyone how they were personally elected by God and their God was the only real God and also 100% real, and everyone believed it. The jedi's biggest asset is their pushiness and incredible ability to puff up their own (often marginal) accomplishments.
Even in the realm of science this is a thing - most jedi scientists just collate the work done by others, form a thesis, push it hard, and hope it works out. And it often works.
No jedi ever apologises, no matter how much damage they do. There's this New Yorker jedi who was fired yesterday for calling some ex-army ICE guy's tat a neo-nazi symbol when it wasn't - she never ever apologised, she wrote an "apology" letter which was basically "Donate to my patreon".
Same with William Kristol, and his Neocons, who killed millions of people by starting the war in Iraq.
