   Environmental campaigners in Italy’s northern Trentino province have started a campaign to stop the felling of a 200-year-old fir tree intended to form the centrepiece of the Vatican’s Christmas decorations.
   
   The so-called “Green Giant” is 29 metres tall and is due to be chopped down next week in a forest in the Ledro valley before being transported to the Vatican and positioned in St Peter’s Square, where it will be unveiled on 9 December.
   
   The Vatican’s Christmas tree tradition began in 1982 and ever since then a fir is donated each year, either from a region in Italy or another European country. The gift is often a source of pride.
   
   But several environmental associations in Trentino are determined to foil this year’s plan. They have written an open letter to Pope Francis asking him to stop what they described as “a useless sacrifice”. More than 40,000 people have signed a petition and residents in Ledro, a town with a population of about 600, are reportedly planning a road-block protest to prevent the tree’s passage to Rome.

   Usually they try to escape through your mouth but sometimes the slugs get a sick joy out of torturing assholes and raping your insides.

    Instead of funding mega churches or sending that money to Israel you could instead be going to church every week, paying the tithe and having the church community support disabled people or the racially marginalized, and they would probably do a better job than some government funded tie and suit.
    
    If you want to throw your money away and wash the feets of blacks then go to a black Methodist church and give them your entire paycheck every week and you kids college fund if you think that makes up for all the damage your white ancestors did, more power to you. I don't think any of this stuff requires public money.
    
    I think the separation of church and state and the idea of helping people in a society was created with good intentions but over time this eroded and degraded to the current system where everyone wants to play the victim game because that gives them more worth in the eyes of the system to get a bigger slice of the pie, this doesn't seem like help to me.
    
    The money already exists to help all of these people forever, it doesn't need to be wrenched out of the hands of taxpayers but in a ME ME ME ME snowflake society like ours where we promote the destruction of morals and the supremacy of the state that seems to be the only way to do anything.
