2023-07-18 at 2:14 AM UTC in World to hit temperature tipping point 10 years faster than forecastAmericans are building natural-disaster-proof homes shaped like domes that cost roughly the same as the average US house
Extreme weather driven by the climate crisis forced 3.3 million Americans out of their homes last year. So some are seeking a new type of house designed specifically to withstand the consequences of a warming Earth: geodesic domes.
These homes are particularly adept at withstanding events like flooding and hurricanes, architects told the Times. The homes are often built out of fire-resistant materials like steel, and the dome shape provides resistance against extreme winds that standard square homes do not. Many also have solar panels and backup generators in case of a power outage. -

It’s been an incredible day of extreme weather in many parts of the globe, with often deadly weather events. As the human-caused climate crisis bites and the El Niño weather pattern accelerates the effects, we’ll continue to bring you coverage of the intense heatwaves, floods and storms bringing havoc to many countries, as they develop.

Sea surface temperatures around the planet have been measured at all-time highs, peaking at 70.2 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the Guardian.
“While marine [heat waves] are found in warmer seas like the Mediterranean, such anomalous temperatures in this part of the north Atlantic are unheard of,” University of Bristol professor Daniela Schmidt told the Guardian. -

Following the bankruptcy of dozens of major carriers and the pullback of another massive national insurance company, Farmers Insurance, now AAA has deems Florida too risky.
This is turning into a climate induced financial crisis which has the ability to spill into the mortgage market and devalue home prices. This also can halt new development of homes and overall worsen the housing crisis. -

Originally posted by ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As someone old enough to know, because I was there, the first hoax they shat out was global cooling in the '70s, the next hoax they shat out was global warming in the '90s, then they just changed it to climate change, all encompassing, so they can cover all the bases of the hoax no matter what the weather does.
Jiggaboo_Johnson proved this is not true. 90% of the studies at the time predicted the warming trends we experience today. -

We’re already seeing the devastating effects of climate change on global food supplies, increasing migration, conflict, disease and global instability, and this will only get worse if we don’t act now. Man-made climate change is the biggest environmental crisis of our time. -

2023-07-17 at 12:12 PM UTC in World to hit temperature tipping point 10 years faster than forecastMYTH 3. GLOBAL WARMING ISN'T REAL AS IT'S STILL COLD
Global warming is causing the Earth’s average surface temperature to increase. This is not only making heatwaves and droughts more likely but it’s also causing changes to our natural climate systems. These changes are making extreme weather events more likely and more severe. For example, hurricanes and storms are becoming more intense, moving slower and taking longer to die down. -
2023-07-17 at 11:17 AM UTC in World to hit temperature tipping point 10 years faster than forecastMYTH 2. PLANTS NEED CARBON DIOXIDE
Plants do need carbon dioxide (CO2) to live. Plants and forests remove and store away huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year. But the problem is, there’s only so much carbon dioxide they can absorb and this amount is getting less, as more and more forests are cut down across the world, largely to produce our food.
Let’s be clear, CO2 itself does not cause problems. It's part of the natural global ecosystem. The problem is the quantity of CO2 that’s being produced by us as humans; there hasn’t been this level of CO2 in the atmosphere for 800,000 years. -
2023-07-17 at 4:13 AM UTC in World to hit temperature tipping point 10 years faster than forecastMYTH 1. THE EARTH’S CLIMATE HAS ALWAYS CHANGED
Over the course of the Earth’s 4.5-billion-year history, the climate has changed a lot. This is true. But the rapid warming we’re seeing now can't be explained by natural cycles of warming and cooling. The kind of changes that would normally happen over hundreds of thousands of years are happening in decades.
Global temperatures are now at their highest since records began. In fact, 17 of the 18 warmest years on record have all taken place since 2001.
This much faster warming corresponds with levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which have been increasing since the industrial revolution. So, when people talk about climate change today, they mean anthropogenic (man-made) climate change. This is the warming of Earth’s average temperature as a result of human activity, such as burning coal, oil and gas to produce energy to fuel our homes and transport and cutting down trees to produce the food we eat. -

According to UN secretary general António Guterres “climate change is out of control”. He warned that if the world persisted in delaying key measures needed to limit fossil fuel emissions, it would move “into a catastrophic situation”.
Many scientists have reacted to this alarm with rueful resignation. They have warned for more than 30 years that continued burning of fossil fuels would trigger the heatwaves that we are now experiencing.
“We should not be at all surprised with the high global temperatures,” Prof Richard Betts, climate scientist at the Met Office and University of Exeter, told the BBC. “This is all a stark reminder of what we’ve known for a long time, and we will see ever-more extremes until we stop building up more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.”
US weather man threatened with death for mentioning climate crisis“It was ‘I am going to kill you’ written in a very deliberate way in a long letter and followed by obsessive emails,” said Gloninger. His critic demanded that he “go the hell back to where you came from DOUCHEBAG!!!” and demanded “what’s your home address, we conservative Iowans would like to give you an Iowan welcome you will never forget.” The emails attacked Gloninger for pushing a “liberal conspiracy theory on the weather”, calling climate change a “Biden hoax”.
What followed was a painful, fraught year in which Gloninger and his wife, Cathy Danko, struggled to deal with what they felt was an overt threat to their safety. The meteorologist started to suffer from stress-induced acid reflux and a chronic cough. He felt his zest for work was diminishing. He ended up in therapy for a year. -

Sea surface temperatures have been rising for decades, with the past three decades seeing "consistently higher" temperatures "than any other time since reliable observations began in 1880," according to the EPA.
