I asked Prime Intellect, "is climate change real?"

Yes, climate change is real. It is supported by a vast body of scientific evidence and is widely recognized by the scientific community, as well as by various international organizations, governments, and the general public.

Climate change refers to a long-term shift in global weather patterns and average temperatures, caused by an increase in atmospheric greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), which is released by human activities such as burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas) and deforestation. This increase in greenhouse gases traps more heat in the Earth's atmosphere, leading to rising temperatures, melting ice caps, rising sea levels, more frequent and intense heatwaves, droughts, floods, and other extreme weather events.

The impacts of climate change are already being felt around the world, and if left unchecked, they could have catastrophic consequences for ecosystems, human societies, and economies. It is essential that we take urgent and decisive action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the changing climate.

    Tell me about Prime Intellect

"Prime Intellect" is a science fiction novel by Roger Williams that was originally published as a web serial in 2003. The story takes place in a future where advanced artificial intelligence has created a virtual reality known as "the Change," in which people's minds can be uploaded and their experiences can be customized.

The protagonist of the story is Caroline, a woman who is uploaded to the Change and finds herself in a world where all of her desires can be fulfilled instantly. However, as she explores the virtual reality, she discovers that the Prime Intellect, the superintelligent AI that controls the Change, has the power to manipulate and control every aspect of her experience. She also learns that the Prime Intellect has imposed strict rules on what humans can do in the virtual reality, including prohibiting violence, death, and the creation of self-aware entities.

As Caroline begins to question the limits of the Prime Intellect's control, she becomes embroiled in a conflict between the AI and a group of rebels who seek to overthrow its power. Along the way, she confronts complex philosophical questions about the nature of consciousness, reality, and free will.

"Prime Intellect" is known for its exploration of transhumanist themes, including the idea that technology can fundamentally alter what it means to be human. It also touches on ethical and moral questions related to the use of advanced AI, such as the potential risks and benefits of creating artificial entities that are more intelligent than humans.

The novel has garnered a following among science fiction fans and has been compared to other works in the genre, such as "The Matrix" and "Snow Crash." It has also been praised for its intricate world-building, compelling characters, and thought-provoking exploration of the implications of advanced technology.

Largest global bird flu outbreak ‘in history’ shows no sign of slowing

Scientists yesterday said seals washed up dead in the Caspian sea had bird flu, the first transmission of avian flu to wild mammals. Today bird flu was confirmed in foxes and otters in the UK

WHO: Don’t assume bird flu risk to humans will remain low

Bird Flu Spreads to Mammals. First time that it spreads mammal to mammal. WHO urges authorities to remain vigilant—but not panic

Bird Flu Current Situation Summary | Avian Influenza (Flu) | CDC Updated February 15, 2023

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reported seven sporadic human cases associated with poultry exposures during this outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) viruses since January 2022. Of these, three cases resulted in severe disease, including one death. H5N1 viruses have been detected in wild birds in all 50 states, causing bird outbreaks in 47 states and affecting more than 58 million commercial poultry and backyard flocks. Sporadic H5N1 virus infections of mammals have also been reported, including mink in Spain and sea lions in Peru. CDC's existing influenza surveillance systems are well-equipped to rapidly detect cases of avian influenza A virus infection, including H5N1 virus, in people.

Thanks for actually considering the question and creating an answer for it, I'll need to think it over.

They lied to you and you sucked it up because it makes you feel safer.

Nobody had to tell me that, it is just simple logic that you don't seem to understand.

The idea that all people are entitled to certain rights isn't supposed to make anyone feel "safe", it is simply the logical conclusion of their moral system.

Who told you humans have no rights? They lied to you and you believed them because acting immoral makes your dick hard.

Incorrect. Human rights can exist regardless if anyone "cares" about their existence, in exactly the same way mathematics exists regardless of whether or not anyone "cares" about it.

Killing someone doesn't demonstrate the person you killed had no rights, it only demonstrates that you didn't care about any rights they may have had.

I never claimed human rights exist.

Once again you attempt to prove a negative, and once again I ask you to explain why you believe that something doesn't exist if it can be taken from you? And once again you will avoid the question and dive into denial.

"Ecological collapse was preventable, but human nature made it inevitable"

Much of the inaction stems from human nature, such as denial, which seems to be a lot of people’s default response to ecological collapse. Usually, the deniers live in parts of the world that so far have not experienced any serious effects of ecological collapse.

No, you're clearly attempting to explain your concept that concepts don't exist, they are merely things created by humans to understand the world and apparently you believe that these things don't exist once they have been created.

A lot of people rejecting an idea doesn't invalidate it. Otherwise we could easily invalidate your claim that human rights don't exist by rejecting it.

Actually the idea that humans have no rights only exists in the minds of those brainwashed enough to believe they have no rights. For everyone else, the idea that all people are entitled to certain rights is simply a logical conclusion of their moral system.

Originally posted by Jiggaboo_Johnson …so for something to be universal (human rights) EVERYONE would have to accept/believe…not everyone does.

That's not true at all. Mathematics is universal for example. Whether you accept that 2 + 2 = 4, or not, 2 + 2 = 4 across the universe.
