The democrats in the US are not looking for more votes with sanctuary policies. At least not in the short term. Long term over the next 30 to 30 years yes.
The reason for it over the last 20 to 30 years is for increasing the number of electors in the electoral college and the number if seats in the house. You see these two things are not determined by the number of US citizens in a state or congressional district just by the number of residents regardless if citizenship.
Once they have more seats in the house and more electoral votes in blue stares like California, New York, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Illinois, etc, they will have the votes to pack the Supreme Court like FDR tried and failed to do in the 1930s.
They play the long game, multi- generational. -

7 tablespoons Crisco or unsalted butter, chilled in freezer and cut into thin slices
ΒΎ cup cold buttermilk
2 tablespoons buttermilk 2 Teaspoon honey for brushing
I forgot about the brushing. Melt and mix the honey and buttermilk on a low heat then brush the tops of the biscuits before baking at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes. -

Just use pastry knives, a set of those can be had for about $10 on Amazon. Personally I use the dough hook on my KitchenAid.
Once the dough is mixed and had a chance to rise I use a rolling pin and shallow greased cookie sheet to roll out a uniform rectangle of dough. Next I use a simple circle cookie cutter to cut out the biscuits.
Do not reroll the left over dough and cut out more biscuits when making buttermilk biscuits. This second run will bake out flat and hard. I cut it into uniform peices, cover it liberally in salted flour, and bag it for use as "dumplings" in a chicken dumpling casserole thing I make. -

Todays "immigrants" go almost entirely to urban areas. The term "settler" is generally defined in rural contexts.
Also I realize the EU has legalized mass unvetted imagination but the US still has laws, which are being criminally ignored by the current administration, which prohibit such.
