    I have a belief that conflict is more likely the closer or more similar you are to another person or group.
    
    Gangs usually fight each other. Yugoslavs for the most part speak a mutually intelligible language and spent years tearing each other apart. The iroquois and the huron were much alike and the former wiped them out.
    
    The more similar you are to another group, usually the proximity, limited resources and the vying for symbolic victories over the people who are wrong, strange, and just a bit off like distorted mirror that needs to be set right. Some societies are there own microcosm too, where the enemy can understand each other.
    
    i dunno i had this idea for a bit. need to flesh it out.
