The question is why you draw the bright line at "countrymen". A country is as arbitrary a political distinction as the EU. There's nothing magical about the spirit of the UK, it is a patch of soil that got conquered by actual fucking monarchs who never gave a shit about you or your freedoms, what makes this division so special? I trust my neighbour more than my townsmen, who I trust about as much as my countymen, statesmen and countrymen… Which is not at all. They're all strangers. What the fuck is this jingo shit?
