Originally posted by Captain Falcon Tor is a well thought out, sound idea but at this point it's safe to assume that the best security it offers is noise; you aren't doing anything too important, so nobody is willing to put in the now-low (but slightly higher than if you weren't using anything) threshold of work necessary to fuck you up. However due to the nature of Tor, if someone *is* interested in you in particular then it's easy to target you with a correlation attack.
VPNs, even if you assume they keep logs, offer you better protection with regards to "noise", and also aren't nearly as susceptible to the correlation attacks that can target Tor users.
I'm not really sure what you mean by noise, assuming you're talking about active users, it's large enough that it warrants something more sophisticated than just working backwards.
Connecting to a VPN might appear more benign, but you then put all your faith in a corporate entity. Where the Tor protocol cannot deauthenticate you unless every node is compromised a VPN provider is more than capable of doing so and may even be legally blocked from informing you they are monitoring you.
Also since it's often mentioned, maybe there is a secret NSA attack that can deauth all Tor traffic, people say the same about IPSec. There is zero evidence of either so it's not worth talking about.

This was 100% a correlation attack and of course he would probably be fine if he wasn't a retard and used a bridge or something, or if he hadn't immediately confessed but I'm just giving a simple example.
This is a pretty poor example for the reasons you stated. I'll give you that Tor doesn't prevent people from seeing that you are connected to it, but even so there was no direct evidence it only led them to the right person. He also shat where he ate, had he sent a bomb threat anywhere else nothing would have come of it.
Really the only reason I read about people being busted these days is javascript drivebys. And that can be avoided with a seperate Tor router. This is why you pick a VPN service based outside of the jurisdiction of the country in which you are based, and who do not keep logs. And anyone who says VPN providers lie abou keeping logs is full of shit, because there is no reason to; they specifically do not for liability reasons, and AFAIK there are no laws in place practically anywhere that necessitate log keeping.
The problem is this inherently means you have to trust somebody else. That's a securiy hole no matter how you look at it and no matter who runs the VPN service.

as far are women concerned, they'll always have someone to take care of them; if they allow foreign men to mingle with their own men, the stronger ones (strength is not a thing women understand rationally or by any actual standard) will fuck them, and they're ok with that.
Unless their material desires cap out at rice and beans (they don't) it isn't even true, at least logically. Of course that goes back to the root problem of emotional desires trumping logic. It's then really fucked up when you see the refugee/illegal situations as purely sexual politics. In fact many are pretty open that it necessary to keep the population growing. That ignores that normal people have little to gain by starting a family and very low chance of providing a good quality of life. It shouldn't need to be said but raising your kids in daycare equals a poor quality of life. Then not coincidentally the only people who will have kids are those with nothing to lose and/or lack critical thinking skills. -

2017-02-10 at 4:53 AM UTC in If i were to look for web-app related files on a server that might contain cleartext credentials...For searching code "ack" is preferred, it will skip binary files which makes it faster than grep. Then you don't have to mess around with the file type pattern matching. Just "ack '$pasword'", it will search more than php, but who knows maybe there's a bash script with some nice passwords somewhere.
I think it goes by extension so a script with no extension might be excluded, not 100% on that though.

2017-02-07 at 12:01 AM UTC in The mind is a meat radio.A radio requires a listener. Yeah everthing is just different electrical inputs, but until you listen to it, then it's as useful as a radio in the middle of the forest with nobody around. I suppose it supports that there is no free will, but in that case it's more just an analogy than a spiritual item.
We are kind of back where we started. Why do we have the sensation at all? Why did we even adapt to become a receiver? It's evident we are just "experiencing" everything. But we have been built like a radio to experience it, you can stick a rock in front of the TV and it won't feel anything different. You can smash it to pieces and it would logically have to "feel" something, however rudimentary, otherwise how could ever adapt to nuances like sound and colors. -

Anyone complacent in that racket should be hung and quartered. I'm just glad I had enough sense to get off them. Imagine being 30 years old and having taken them half your life. Going through puberty without ever having full sensation of your penis. All because someone claimed to have your best interest at heart, when in reality you were just a lifelong addict to them. Worse than a regular drug dealer as at least you know their end game.
People seem normal and normaler when they go on it, but watch them go off it. They become psychopathic and that I would guess is a permanent change. Sure it gets toned down once they are no longer withdrawing, but it's like how a trip, good or bad, will change someone for life. You put someone through hell and you get the devil.
What's especially interesting, I'm speaking of SSRIs of course, is that they cause selective reuptake of everything. This includes dopamine and I read somewhere this is more likely the reason anyone claims that they work at all. There's actually a site/PhD Dr. explaining why more serotonin is bad for your health, let me try to find it. That's not to deny that serontonin plays a role somewhere as ectasy makes it clear it's a feel good chemical, but there were compelling arguements against treating it like we do. -
