Warfare these days will be fought with bombs, drones, and taking civilian lives- it'll be a rare thing indeed for one side to actually meet up in combat with the opposition- its about taking ground and anymore your soldier is obsolete except to make a presence to the peasant class. People are sitting behind desks making calls to kill people with bombs rather than face to face combat anymore.. And why should that change?

that's largely because there hasn't been a war between equally-well equipped forces for the last 70 years... it's easy to crush someone with drones and carriers when they have no effective way to respond to air power, but try it on someone who has the capability to drop stratospheric missiles on your carriers and ground your drones with em/microwave weapons and 'safe' standoff weapons aren't an option anymore

The best hacker is the one no one suspects, and even better, the one everyone thinks can't do anything. Don't forget, I'm one of the original &Temple crew, when it was still ASCII and dialup. I've been along for the entire ride, and I've watched the Internet grow from nothing to what it is now. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck last night, you know.

did you fall off the turnip truck 30 years ago though?

Is it on the same patch for linux as it is for windows?

    yeah, multiplayer is cross-compatible

I've just now reinstalled it actually after not touching it for... six months to a year?

    Very good infographic, Sophie.

Also, holy shit, I didn't know Daisy's Destruction was a genuine CP rape-torture snuff film that was on a pay per piew darknet website charging an absurd amount to view it. I wonder how much they made…

[NSFL] Australian child molester Peter Scully faces death penalty in Philippines - Scully "filmed his torture and rape of young girls as he made them dig their own graves" and "laughed, joked and acted nonchalant about his alleged crimes"

I like to think I'm able to keep myself disconnected enough that most things I see or read don't bother me much, no matter how absurd or obscene, but this... I'm legitimately considering traveling SE asia for a few months just vanishing sex tourists

actually makes a lot of sense.

it -only- protects the prostitutes themselves; like sophie says it is still illegal to solicit sex from a minor whether you pay for it or not. most prostitutes, underage ones especially so are in desperate situations or they wouldn't have started that line of work anyway, as such criminal prosecution does little to deter them or improve the situation on the whole... just leaves them open to further exploitation.

I stand by my opinion that Lanny suffers from some form of mild/borderline autism.

What? How? The whole event is humorous because it's a failure to understand context and subculture, which is a general form. If an instance of this form is too obvious it will fail to be enduringly enshrined in the larger culture like we see here: it's too clear that a poorly drawn frog is not a symbol of racism thus even ADL is aware enough to stick a caveat about this on their website. Examples that are sufficiently subtle to be continuously misinterpreted are Catcher in the Rye, The Prince, and Malleus Maleficarum all of which remain enduringly comic because the prevailing opinion of or in each work is still a caricature of the reality that backs it.

pretty sure he read your post as arguing it's reasonable to add froggo to their Big Bad Symbols List based on their justification

EXIF is the standard used to store metadata in images; all of those pieces of information are stored in an EXIF structure.

EXIF is the only popular metadata format for images that I know of, but it's always possible to store information in nonstandard ways. If you were inclined to look for hidden data you'd want to check out the image standard (ie JPG, PNG etc) so you know how image data is stored, then strip out any data that doesn't contribute to the image and attempt to decode it... I think soph made a thread a while ago about hiding data in image files (steganography) that's got more information, but it's probably outside the scope of what you're asking.

Short version: EXIF is the only common format that metadata is embedded in images.

    yeah, fragmentation, not cluster:

    http://en.valka.cz/topic/view/10924/SOV-OFAB-250

it doesn't split up in flight like a clusterbomb, it's one large explosive with a casing designed in such a way that it breaks into small fragments when detonated, like a million little bullets flying in random directions

I guess the fin could fly off when it detonates, but I'd doubt the fin alone is heavy enough to punch through the ceiling link that? no idea honestly, just seems rather unlikely
