2017-11-17 at 3:06 AM UTC in Conflict Shitpile III - Diplomacy Defunct EditionSYRIA - Stalemate at the UN over the investigation of the Khan Shekhoun chemical attack - has been going on for a while but I'm not sure if I posted about it.
Western newspapers are reporting that Russia has veto'd propositions to extend the OPCW's investigation into the matter, but as usual they only present half the story and don't explain why.
- The OPCW investigation has not inspected the site of the attack for 'safety concerns', which directly contravenes their own charter.
- The 'investigation' is based entirely on the testimony of rebel ('opposition') groups, largely the infamous White Helmets, a group who claim to rescue civilians in the warzone but are inextricably linked to Al-Nusra and other Islamist rebels. They're also being funded to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars by the US, UK and Turkish governments.
- The chemical analysis of tissue samples (again, these were collected by White Helmets so there's no sure chain of custody of evidence, or assurance that the evidence came from the attack site) is carefully worded, stating that the presence of 'sarin or a sarin-like substance' was detected. This indicates that it's not certain whether the victim was actually killed by the toxin, and calls into question whether Sarin was actually detected or if it was some other organophosphate compound or waste product.
- Given the above 'evidence' and no will to investigate directly, the only direction for the OPCW to go is to ascribe blame for the incident based on deeply flawed methodology.
Russia, Syria, Iran and China have put forward a motion to build a new international investigation team, one that would actually travel to the site and investigate directly, but the US and several Western-European countries immediately veto'd the motion on the basis that it would 'undermine the legitimacy of the existing OPCW investigation'. -

You are a nigger. Accept it. We all are.
all that really posits is that Australian Aborigines are/were genetically similar to the Africans at the time - I don't think that's really a surprise to anyone (even if their 'development' over the years was different).

Originally posted by SBTlauien Seems like everyone wanted to join to go fight an easy fight like terrorist groups that have little power compared to the US military. Basically target practice.
But now that war with a real military like Russia/N.K. could happen, people are not.
That's a part of it, but I think the bigger component is that people are finding it harder to take pride in military service - sure, it demonstrates personal resilience and commitment, but there's a point where even the most 'patriotic' have to realise that messing with brown people for decades because 'there are terrorists there' has little to do with protecting their families back home, especially when it's become so glaringly obvious that those same terrorists they fight are often being supported by other arms of their own government -
2017-11-17 at 2:07 AM UTC in Conflict Shitpile III - Diplomacy Defunct EditionSAUDI ARABIA - MbS is apparently now extorting the people he's had arrested on corruption charges - they've been given the option to buy their freedom by surrendering up to 70% of their assets to the state.
It's actually a very smart move, regardless of whether it's legitimately an anti-corruption measure or not. He's effectively stopped 'capital flight' out of KSA, which was bound to happen as their financial situation became more and more dire, and socializing chunks of the larger companies goes a long way to stabilising the state's financial troubles. They could potentially use those funds to improve infrastructure and move away from reliance on oil industries, but it seems a lot more likely that it'll be used as a war chest for likely-upcoming conflicts. -

still Ugyhurs unless you're talking about a specific political group
there's actually a reasonable number of them in Syria fighting with the islamist rebels -

Let me ask all of you a question…
At your jobs, and other places, do people ever warn you about narcissist and/or sociopaths that are there?
only person I used to warn people about was the guy who took his briefcase to the bathroom and got like 4 separate warnings for touching people up at work functions -

There was a dossier in one of the recently-released JFK files indicating that Hitler may have escaped to South America after the war - it included a photo, but I have a hard time believing he escaped the Berlin Bunker and managed to live incognito but never bothered to shave his iconic moustache off -

Originally posted by Lanny This sounds like the kind of retardation a person might actually believe, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume not.
I guess the argument is that if anything between 1 and infinity is a number, anything could be a number.
A number is clearly defined though and "afjnjawrfjanf blue chicken flavor cheese smell" does not meet that definition.
On topic: An atheistic nihilist would be an Anilist. -
