2019-06-17 at 7:25 PM UTC in Conflict Shitpile IV - Idlib Dawn EditionI guess we can't rule out a third party either, likely operating on purely economic interests like driving up insurance costs or forcing buyers to consider getting oil from a different source...

Yeah, drones can approach from any angle, I was mostly just making the point that mines, torpedoes and standard anti-ship missiles could be ruled out. As for blaming israel, they're the only ones who have something to gain from the attack and also have the iniative to carry it out - in theory it could've been one of the Gulf states but MbS would not risk angering the US, nor would he risk closing the Strait (if a single ship sunk instead of just being damaged, insurers would pull out and nobody would risk sending an uninsured tanker through there). If Iran were actually insane and self-destructive enough to do it, both those ships and more would've been sunk to create underwater hazards and coastal batteries would target anyone trying to clear them. This attack benefits them in no way whatsoever. -

2019-06-17 at 5:55 PM UTC in Chaos magic is realthis is the sort of thing douchepak chopdicks is talking about when he rambles about quantum mechanics - the (baseless) idea that the human mind can 'tap into' quantum particles and change or predect the probability of their action.
even if it were possible, the amount of computing power that'd be required even to understand going from changing single particles to a visible, real-world effect would be enormous -

I've done a fair bit of reading lately and the main 'serious' currents are:
1. Lavey's j'ew libertarianism
2. Crowley's j'ew sorcery larping
3. O9A's Nazi larping
ignoring the first, the other two are mostly goofy rituals, dress ups and stories based on old gnostic beliefs and texts - qabbalah for Crowley and Pymander/Alchemy for O9A.
funnily enough, one of O9A's most prolific members felt the same way, eventually left the cult and joined a monastery lul -

Didn't see that post. It wasn't a mine or a torpedo because the damage was (significantly) above the waterline. US navy released a grainy video they claim depicts an Iranian patrol removing a limpet mine from one of the ships, but the video is too poor to determine anything, and neither the use of limpet mines nor them being removed afterwards makes any sense in this context.
Crew on the Japanese-Philippino ship report seeing flying objects just before the attack, and as I posted above both ships were attacked almost simultaneously from the side facing AWAY from Iran; the attackers approached from the Arabian Peninsula. All things considered my guess is israeli drones with small munitions specifically chosen NOT to sink the ships, as modern anti-ship missiles in use by all major regional militaries do significantly more damage than the small holes that were photographed. -

In other news, Shanghai Cooperation Organization had a summit a couple of days ago. It looks like Russia is getting ready to export more energy to China. Which is good, because this means Russia won't be affected as much by EU/USA/NATO "sanctions".
Yup, Russia and Iran are moving fuel to China and away from the markets that sanctions can touch them, which also benefits China through lower costs and the ability to trade in their own currency. Even the EU is looking at trading with others (specifically Russia and China) in their own currencies rather than the dollar.
Speaking of the SCO summit, Putin had some interesting things to say about 'technology war' and the US rapidly losing its ability to impede other nations from reaching 'peer' status in terms of 'high-tech' production
