And even if it's not "sad", it's notable for a community as small as this one.
He almost felt like a fucked up little brother that I only talked to online, because my early years were stunted by being in the weird church I was a part of, so I identified a lot with social anxiety and isolation, trying to be "normal".
With all the stupid, useless people in the world- just kinda seems like a waste.

Back in the mid 80s, Dominos pizza came up with something of an anti-mascot - they called it The Noid, and it was a weird little deviant in a bright red rabbit costume. He apparently wanted to destroy pizzas or something, and as such ordering from Dominos was the only way to 'avoid the Noid'. The ad campaign started in 86 and ran for three years (spawning some bizarre ads and shitty videogames) before a very seriously mentally ill man took the campaign as a personal attack - Kenneth Lamar Noid's schizophrenia allowed him to see that Dominos made the ad campaign to personally attack him, and later stated that he often saw Tom Monaghan (the owner of the Dominos name) 'looking around in my apartment' while he pretended to sleep.
Kenneth decided they had to be stopped, and to that end he took a .357 magnum handgun to his local Dominos (Atlanta) and took two workers hostage. Frustrated that nobody there could put an end to the ad campaign, he had them call their corporate office, demanding an end to the campaign of persecution, $100,000 in damages, a white stretch limousine, apparently as a getaway car, and a copy of a science fiction book called 'The Widow's Son'. Unsurprisingly Dominos called the police, who surrounded the restaurant for 5 hours. During that time Kenneth apparently got hungry and ordered the staff to make him two pizzas, and they promptly slipped out the back door while he happily ate them. Discovering he had no more hostages, he surrendered to the police.
Dominos still claims that Kenneth isn't the reason they put an end to the advertising campaign, but it's hard to see them ever getting past the avalanche of news headlines stating that they 'couldn't avoid the Noid'.

Reminds of when the anesthesiologist tried to knock me out for surgery (it was only twilight sedation) and gave me 150mcg of fentanyl with 2mg midazolam so they could put an arterial line in my leg to bust up a DVT. He gave me both and I was still fully conscious and talking to him. I begged him to knock me out so he gave me another 150mcg, and it was still like nothing happened. They then proceeded to do the procedure while I was fully conscious and screaming and crying in pain. They had to hold my legs down with 4 nurses because I felt everything and was trying to get them to stop.
The surgeon and anesthesiologist were shocked I was still conscious. Bitch, I've shot 2mg of fentanyl and felt great. I filed a complaint against the anesthesiologist because he should not have okay'd my procedure knowing I wasn't sedated at all. Yeah. That's the part that I think gets me the most. I can't find an obituary...,a funeral service....a grave site. It's like he was never here to begin with. He had all these people reaching out to him. I figured he'd at least want to see what normal interactions/life could be like.
I always imagined doing a documentary about totse and all the offshoots. It's our shitty little niche site, but when you think about it like I said- he's really just a proxy for those millions of people with severe social and mental health issues. From the sounds of it, he was on a ton of different antidepressants, but they never seemed to do much. Imagine if he'd channeled all that brain power to doing anything constructive? He could've been a fantastic columnist or political commentator.
Idk. I guess it feels like he died years ago. But he promised he'd meet up for a couple of days. Idk how I could've been more accommodating. I wonder if he thought I'd talk him out of it? Part of me admires his resolve, but the rest is just...ugh. My life sucked for such a long time. And most days I didn't even feel like trying to change anything. I just wanted to get high and go to sleep, and wake up and maybe something would be different. But finally I realized "if you're serious about killing yourself, wouldn't it make sense to try other things first?"
I GET suicide. No one should feel trapped. But he actually had a ton of positive qualities that he just hadn't cultivated. His suicide just feels lazy. Out of all my friends who died, even though I never met him face to face, I almost feel more for him because we were so much alike in so many ways. I think there's a ton of projection too. It makes me sad to think that if something happened to me, or I died in my sleep- it wouldn't be much different. My mom wouldn't be able to afford to bury me ( even if interrment is kinda stupid and selfish). It's almost impossible to find picture s of me online. I barely just started talking to old friends. All my closest friends are dead or in jail. Didn't go to school. Didn't get married. No significant other.
It just feels so strange for someone to be here for so long, and spend all those days on this planet, and all those conversations and all the reading and debating. And pictures of your dick next to your cat. And then there's just 40 or 50 assorted weirdos on the internet who even had an inkling you existed, and only one of them even known your real name...and he had to pay money to dig it up after the fact from your coroners report.
