I have been curious of the possibility of potentially taking poppy seed/pods and giving it a shot, but given I have no practical experience in chemistry I would like to know if anyone has come across/tried doing this. Given how impure the result would be, I dunno if it would be something I would deign to inject, but since poppy tea is strong if done properly I imagine you could ingest it in other ways. -

I recommend checking out Christopher Hyatt. He is brutally cynical, but he also writes about occult topics, voodoo etc. -

I have a feeling any group of "occultist" would be deeply unimpressive, neck-beards playing Crowley, so that is a turnoff. That said, allot of very intelligent people think that there is something to it beneath the bullshit. I certainly think some techniques can be effective in some contexts. The whole field comes with so much baggage and potential for pathetic displays though.
