by default most lunix distributions will not distribute closed-source packages with the operating system for security/licensing reasons, so you have to enable non-free repositories for apt before you can tell it to download and install them.

SGX is to do with the processor, not the GPU so that message shouldn't affect anything.
usually if you don't have the proprietary drivers installed the system will still boot just fine, you'll just be restricted to a low resolution with no 3d acceleration (compatibility mode). yeah it might be restricting output to a specific monitor port on the GPU until you install a properietary driver, I dunno, I haven't tried running lunix on a gayming machine in a while. if it gets as far as grub I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't go further unless there's some kind of driver conflict in the main OS.
maybe try reinstalling mint with the GPU installed? if you had a different GPU plugged in when you first installed it maybe it installed drivers for that GPU which are now causing proble,msThe following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

there's no argument that it's been happening, the question is just whether it's intentional or not I guess.

why would you want to use a 4090 with lunix, AI or something? typically the latest cards always have compatibility problems that take a while to get ironed out. in order to run it properly you'll need to install the proprietary nvidia drivers because they refuse to release their drivers open-source
