    interestingly enough it seems as though israel simply doesn't have the manpower for anything more than small-scale raids.
    
    forces in Gaza are at the lowest level since the ground invasion began and the majority of reserves have been discharged as they were called up for a 3-month period. they were supposed to be paid their standard wage by the state for those three months but the majority haven't been, and companies simply fired reservists who were deployed so they have no job to come back to.
    
    israeli media is worried that given the economic problems and the sheer volume of soldiers (reserves and professionals) that either didn't come back or came back with serious mental problems (combat stress, PTSD etc.) that calling up more will collapse the economy and cause direct civil unrest
