I think the real message that this thread needs to convey is try your best to not burn bridges, I believe in standing up for yourself and having principals but theres somethings that you should let go. I guess its trite, but choose your battles.

this is my daddio in Florida during xmas. He used to be the meanest man in the world lol. He'd come home from work and start yelling at everyone and it was kinda scary. But he's chill now and I like talking to him but I don't see him as often as I'd like.

One winter break when i was 15 he took everything out of my room, like everything and just tossed in a biology book, and I would try to fall asleep and every like 3 hours or so he would just come in and start yelling at me calling me a drug head and ask me if i was reading. It was terrible, kinda funny now though lol
