I have a feeling this is extremely common in Europe where they give out certifications and licenses like it's going out of style , which it is because most industries I've worked in essentially regulate themselves to a certain degree and it's not like a huge sweeping practice consistent across setting it's more of a nuance of similarity like places that are government approved to give you a legal certification on the job or something
I would consider most European educational institutions that aren't like Harvard grade to be essentially like dropping out of community college or trucking school
Maybe culturally it's seen as a big thing in Europe but in my country it's really only an appeal to migrants that think this stuff is important when in reality it's not unless you are dead set on some specific industry nobody cares about your Red Docket Technology 3 Year X-ray Sanitation Degree from The Denmark University of Microsoft Technical Institute -

Right, that's correct but still, I think someone puts the evil eye on me everytime I mention what study I do, because I always end up dropping out for some reason. -

They only give out degrees once you graduate. I remember there was a scandal a few years ago where one college was selling degrees but it's practically unheard of. The Dutch do everything by the book. -
2024-02-12 at 5:38 PM UTCBy what book though because I have heard of stuff like a certification for washing dishes in Denmark and it's LAW that every person working at McDonalds or any food serving place take a that course to work in the industry
ON JOB CERTIFICATE TRAINING LOLXD
sorry but I'm toastmaster certified and I don't need a loicense to wash dishes

2024-02-12 at 5:48 PM UTCYou don't need a college degree or a certification to work at fast food chains. You only need college degrees for actual jobs. Wanna be a doctor? University. Wanna be a judicial advisor? College. Lawyer? University. Nurse? College. Business? College. You get my point.

In truth I haven't had friends irl since I was 18, there'd still be people coming and going and meeting people off the internet so it's not like I haven't socialised. It's my fault because I never made an effort to make friends and I still don't really want them irl. But all this means I'm not normal, I started thinking that people weren't real. What happened when I was 22 is a cloud hanging over my life because how can I ever be happy when I know hell exists? I remember going to a psychiatrist just to make sure I was okay, I thought I couldn't be after that isolation. She said I was sound, that I couldn't go crazy because I'm a critical thinker. I think I'm interesting enough to entertain myself and that's what I've been doing the past year, literally only been talking to myself. I don't have a single friend online or irl. I think this is going to affect my mental health, that it can't go on for another few months. I've made arrangements for social activities but I feel like I'm still going to hate everyone. Spectral mentioned I should read books but I don't have time to read literature at this point.

E, I understand that you are going for a real degree for a real industry, computer science if I'm not mistaken?
I just give Europeans a hard time become their are my economic competition in the global market. But a lot of them do end up moving here for both study and work, actually they used to but we just banned that because it was so lucrative (for them)

I actually dropped out late last year hahaha. But yeah, I've gone back to college since. I guess other Europeans do come to the States for their studies but Dutch students rarely do that. The education system here is good. Having said that, yes -- the job I want requires a college degree, hence why I'm studying. If I could do this job without having to study for it, I would've done it but the Dutch are very anal about this. Even if you have the skills, or the know-how, if you don't have a degree, then you're out of luck. They do make exceptions for rare cases. For instance, last year I was studying applied data science and artificial intelligence and I had a teacher for the subject programming. That was a new major that started in 2022. Well, there are no majors to become a programming teacher but since it was a new major and he had the knowledge, they allowed him to become a teacher. Whereas normally, in other to teach, you need a degree which you can obtain after 4 years of studying and extensive interning. Those are the kind of rare exceptions they make in the Netherlands. -

Do you think in Dutch and see words in dutch in your mind? So when you see GHOST your brain see's geest and you don't read this as this you read it in your mind as
"O, neuk mij. Ik dacht dat je dit onder je Ghost-handvat had gepost. Ik zag net dat het hier Geest is. Goed zo.
Denk jij in het Nederlands en zie je woorden in het Nederlands in je hoofd? Dus als je GHOST ziet, zien je hersenen de geest en je leest dit niet zo, je leest het in je gedachten als" -

No, I read everything in the language it's written. And I see you've taken the liberty to use some good ol' Google Translate. Heh. -
