looks like a gas explosion the way the fire rises
that was the implication, yeah, according to the news he fired off a flare gun until the cops showed up then ambushed them with an exploding house

initial reports were that they couldn't find the homeowner. if the linked account is actually him he claims that he lives in Cincinnati, that someone else has a lien on his VA house (that blew up) and this was all some elaborate way to frame him -

anyone shooting that many flares has to be doing it for a reason
based on his writings about his delusional paranoia and his demonstrated intelligence...he could have been dangerous
and that same note...its fairly difficult to get a gas/air mixture to the proper ratio that'll result in an explosion and not a fire. if he was any kind of 'science' aficionado he would be able to get a decent volume ratio and how long he'd need to vent the gas line to get the proper mix -

ive seen exactly that happen with people taking vyvanse. they start out normal with prestigious jobs then...*poof* super-sized paranoia and publicly acting out. the definition of insanity. one of who was finally 'arrested' and involuntarily held in an institution for mental health. once she stopped taking the vyvanse she returned to sanity. -

your over thinking things. whether a fire starts or not will be totally dependent on the material used in the construction of the structure.
he had like 3 hours to fill the house with gas, the resulting explosion was oxygen starved and had a low temperature judging by the color of the flame, and all the combustible were sent high into the air before they could become hot enough to ignite.
whats left were bricks and concretes and some furniture which in fact burned.
combustible gasses are denser than air and they will fill up to half full before leaking out through the windows leaving enough air for thr perfect explosion in most cases. -
