generic pharmacy syrup contains guafinesin 90% of the time which dulls the trip and causes nausea. when it doesn't contain guaf it's actually better than name brands because it doesn't have menthol additives. still, it's somewhat unpleasant to down multiple bottles of cough syrup, even though i don't really mind it and prefer the taste to hard liquor, which is where the dollar store gels excel. i can swallow 1000+mg in 30 seconds, 15 gels at a time for 225mg each. being able to dose all of it at once makes it hit like a sledgehammer, while with syrup the come up is slower. also because of how easy it is to take gels i have no problem taking nootropics with them to try to enhance the trip, and it's easy to adjust the dose in 15 milligram increments. only problem is the sorbitol tends to make me shit myself, but to me it's good enough to be worth it. robitussin brand koffhellz cost about 7$ for 300mg, or 7$ for a 354mg bottle of syrup, the gels are 1$ for 225mg, and the syrup (when not containing guafinesin) is 2$ for 354mg but hard to find.
