remind me, are you an expat living in the US? if so, are you considering moving back to russia if things get bad here? i sure the hell am, but dont know if i can do it because i have never been out of my state, that and i have a record so i fear being denied residence abroad. am i fucked? -

I'm pretty sure that almost everyone in Russia has a record. Is that a deal breaker for immigration to the u.s.? It seems that anyone I know here from Eastern Europe has some sort of record in the CIS or elsewhere in Europe. I myself has a record in Israel, didn't really stop me from getting a passport here. Don't see how that would change anything for immigration to Russia of all places.
If things get bad I'm gonna go to somewhere in sub-saharan Africa probably. -

uh dumb dumb...each new iteration/generation merely ADDs to the fundamental concept. But yes...they had positional tracking in the 80s/90s, they used fresnal lenses just like those of today, and yes there WERE tethered to a personal computer. The Virtuality VR was powered by an Amiga computer...

I used to use this all the time back in the day.
It really is a shame what happened to VR.
Back then it was like the web of the 00s, a Wild West.

The Oculus store is so controlled and jooish, you don’t even have the option of installing things outside the store.

What’s the state of OSVR?
It’s good to see people still trying to keep the independent VR world alive.
I really miss the days where there was an active community of enthusiasts who would create niche little VR experiences not for monetary gain but for the satisfaction of pioneering a new technology.
I miss going on the Oculus forums and seeing people post links to their little demos, running it in my DK1 and then checking out the next thing.
That feeling of an independent community is what made VR so special, not having some billion dollar company churn out fancy tech. -

THen they show up and I'm 30, carrying a 2019 Tablet, and obviously am at work.
This (and lack of profit sharing) is why I suck at working any job not paid commission or for someone I respect more than the money they're giving.
