a wealthy working man might have walked more in short distance regarding his business n poor guys who worked for guys like that didnt have enough pay to buy quality shoes nor go to a shoesmith to maintain. remember the wealth gap wasnt as wide, and only Royal families had real dollars. the higher working class lived nice lives, like dutches and dukes, but hardly in that class range. they were called common wealth which makes no sense since you would think common wealth was mostly poorer people who were the majority. but the common wealth class was middle wealth to kings and thats how the name stuck.
