    ???

I was answering your question to the best of my ability, and I wasn't trying to insult you. There is no reason to be upset.

    What is the soul problem?

What is the soul problem? How does it apply to animism?

The soul problem is a term used to refer collectively to the flaws in using soul theory to resolve the issue of identity. The problem with the concept of souls (with regards to identity) is manyfold; the argument for their existence is circular; the argument for their nature is inconsistent and illogical with regards to *actually* solving the problem of identity. It applies to animism because animism at large believes in a spiritual element to all things, including inanimate objects, and is very similar in nature to invoking the soul theory of identity. The idea of a soul or spirit in itself is untenable and animism generally evokes a form of essentialism to explain the properties of objects in the form of a "spirit".

    You're supposed to tell me.
I was supposed to tell you the problem of identity, which I did. I can't give you a conclusive answer to the problem because if I could, I would win more awards than I could store.

So you have no idea what makes a thing that thing and not another thing, yet you know whatever it is, it's not a soul?
