Who would be dumb enough to even report they owed bitcoins to the irs for them to trace them in the first place esprcially who is part of such groups? Or can they trace everyone including those who report nothing to irs and trace their bitcoing wallets? This just makes no sense.

And how would that even get the physical location of the admin? This all just seems fishy to me. And lol st the nwme of the site, „welcome to video.”

7.5 terabytes of child pornography videos, the largest of its kind: that’s more than 10,000 CDs full of imagery that are no longer in the hands of child pornographers.

    that's a funny quote though.

So was this the korean admin or some other guy? I mean how were they able to get the admin and a crapload of people from tracing one person’s account?

I'm sure they managed to trace payment to one of the staff and twisted him to help them find the others

But thsts not what the article says or makes it sound like. It makes it sound like they hacked the entire blockchain.

The complaint alleges that law enforcement was able to trace payments of bitcoin to the Darknet site by following the flow of funds on the blockchain. The virtual currency accounts identified in the complaint were allegedly used by 24 individuals in five countries to fund the website and promote the exploitation of children.

Isnt blockchain supposed to be super secure with encryption so thst even reale stwte companies and banks rely on it for electornic records?

    Yes

But it's public so anyone can point software at it to gather data and with enough data you can be deanonymized

It is supposed to be all crypto and encrypted. Why else would all the financial institutions rely on it? Was it a big lie? Why would banks move their digital ledger to it otherwise if records of their customers can be stolen or credit card numbers?
