Im sorry if I am wrong but the whole point of filling up a mason jar with coins was to SAVE THE MONEY.
and here I am trying to convince her the idea of paying Coinstar 11.9% to count my change is just ludicrous.
Seeeing as how that is probably a little over a years worth of saved pocket change and given their rates, I would literally be paying them over an entire month of coin savings just to count the 11 other months and let me keep that part.
Anyways I know those lil plastic coin counters dont cost that damn much (about $20-25)
But even cheaper still is just counting the coins and putting them in rolls yourself which is what I had planned to do all along.
That being said I think I best at least order the rolls for the coins now before I find myself revisiting this "argument".
I love my gf and if there was another reason why we would be going to the store besides just to use coinstar I might do it.
But we dont even need money right now so I was kinda confused...

Okay I actually went back and read it. Can you imagine what their conversations are like?

Fona always having to spark a false outrage over something as trivial as change to seem like the man of the house

Thats cool. I've never saved more than 50 in coins. Must feel like Christmas to get 900.

I personally avoid using cash as much as possible

Use a scale and weigh it.

Many banks are now refusing to take rolled coins.

Depends. Some older coins are silver or partially silver, and some have iron or nickle or copper in them. There's no way you could separate a lot of coins by content before placing them on a scale. Sure, the result will be close, but very inaccurate.

Canadian banks, such as the Bank of Montreal are already refusing coins. I'm sure the US won't be far behind.

silver coins are worth more than the value they carry as a coin.

i dont know what coins you canadians have but im sure coins of the same value weights more or less the same.

in old days they'd often snip tiny pieces from the edges of every silver coin and then save the silver for a weigh up

    Update!

We went to walmart and bought the wraps for $2.75ish and then went to Goodwill where Chelle found the plastic coin thing that tells you how many you got and that was only $1.
Should make manually wrapping coins go faster.
We thought about buying a coin wrapping machine but as much fun as that sounds we just don't have it in the budget.
    Anyways...
We are both quite pleased with the compromise.
Chelle is happy we can do it ourselves and I'm happy I don't have to use the jedi's Coinstar.
