If they did they would lose...anyone using nukes on their own people..or any heavy weaponry would feel the rest of the worlds wrath on them.
On top of that you are assuming the US military would actually side with a government who would do such a thing...I'd bet money a big majority of the military...if not all would side with the people. -

I think cars are a lot more dangerous than guns, everytime I walk out of the house I see hundreds of metal death traps everywhere but I rarely see guns, i've seen a lot of car accidents though

a generation of kids have been born and breed in wars. youths who went to serve in iraq and afghan are now middle aged dudes. with trumps sudden withdrawal these returning vets and their equipment, and entire industry behind these equipments will need to find another outlet to vent their 'righteous' violences and excess inventories.
they will convince trump to repeal posse comitatus, and he will obey. -

Same if it's a family of bears...they'll wait around for you to reload no problem.
