Star Trek TNG is one of the best shows ever created

Good thing being in contact with alien races cured humanity of that liberal nonsense by the 23rd century.

Yeah I sat down to rewatch some today, watched the one with the energy pattern creature. Again, Counsellor Troi is such a shit ass character. She's just a convenient exposition button. They could have handled it 10010929399393 different ways.

Holy shit the Orville was good tho.

i been binge watching tng for the last week, am on season 3 atm. its funny coz i remember watching this in the late 80s when it was totally new and it looked so futuristic. but now i'm watching it and i'm holding a phone in my hand that looks light years ahead of the technology they're using on the enterprise now. it almost has the same feel about it now as watching the original star trek from the 60s did.

as for deanna troi, i think she's a good character that enables them to tell much more multi-faceted story lines. she makes a great conduit for conveying the emotions of the characters which clearly would often be an issue among inter-galactic species that are attempting differing allegiances and/or battling against each other in many different and often weird alien situations, which is exactly what star trek is all about. it doesn't always have to be photon torpedoes and "phasers on stun" to make for interesting story lines.

Watching TOS and this is incredibly sexist and rapey lol. Such good stories but I can't get over shit like Kirk going within 2 steps of domestic violence for absolutely no reason. Yelling at women, grabbing them aggressively in the hallway. Then by the end of the episode he's calling the bitch a rose and about to kiss her.

He also repeatedly mentions how beautiful women are during meetings and shit. Like nonstop hornyness.

I like how the only black officer on board speaks swahili

I think they could have handled that way better than they did anyway. For example, conveying emotion through action is like the whole thing about motion pictures. Godzilla did "show emotion in a weird nonhuman thing" years ago. Although 95% of Godzilla's emotions are unbridled rage and incontestable awesomeness, but that's just the character, they've told a lot of stories with him through just visual conveyance that display lots of ranges of emotions. Not even just in Godzilla but in his monstrous enemies.
