2019-05-22 at 4:07 AM UTCRelated somewhat.. still don't see how going after Suddam had anything to do with Afghanistan harboring Osama Bin Laden (which he himself was in question of aiding 9/11 when the only thing he most likely had relationship was his family members being Saudi Royal who paid Muhammid Atta to train in the USA)

2019-05-22 at 4:51 PM UTCAfghani people I've met are generally good looking intelligent folks that seem to have good morals. But it's a big place with a long history and different tribes there have historically been into raiding other tribes, stealing women and camels etc
But yeah it does sound like a nice place.

Fuck that noise. If it wasnt for religion id definitely want to visit there and a lot more places.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

Kabul is wide open now as well as the north. Like I've mentioned, the tribal areas are still backwards af that's really the only place a hijab is mandatory.
The tribal areas were literally using bows and arrows before the US there guns at them in the 80s. Literacy is still basically unheard of and they have their own laws and customs. judging Afghanistan based on those areas is like saying all Americans are homeless junkies who abandon their kids because you are. And they have far more legitimate excuses than you Americans do -

2019-05-22 at 6:36 PM UTCbut seriously i spent a year in afghanistan and didn't see a whole lot off base but i was on the perimeter so i did spend a good amount of time gazing out at these mountains and there was a smallish opium farm right there and a road that people barely used. the sunsets in afghanistan were fucking amazing, because the entire sky was pretty much wide open from not having trees or any buildings (a few tiny ones) so you see an entire rainbow of colors.
there's also a book i read called "the way of the world" where these 2 guys travel through afghanistan and some of the surrounding areas, a long time ago, that has really good descriptions of the natural beauty of the area.
