There are no significant moves the person saying "king me" can use, and "kinging" is only a thing in checkers, not chess

    thats WHY its so good.

Also, i think that bishop is on dark, so he could be putting the Q under pressure while being covered by the Knight, not game changing but it's a move.

I get it if it's meant to make fun of people who think they know everything and such, but anybody can make a meme like that, and thus, it sucks

That would be like me taking a picture of myself sitting in a car with a manual transmission that's parked in reverse with a text bubble that says "cops can't catch me"

I feel like maybe if it was a golf cart it would be more in line.

Business and first class in domestic travel are essentially a way to scam fat and old people, people who have a problem with sitting up. The service on domestic in the US is usually dogshit terrible.

Internationally it is worth it for the leg room and recline but even then American and European airlines basically have dogshit offerings compared to Etihad and Emirates.

The food in Emirates and Etihad 1st and business is great. I had this filet mignon on Emirates that was actually decent. The desserts are usually something baked or cooked, and are usually delicious. They also give you some fruit at each meal. The air hostesses are pretty (usually east Asian) and the media selection is usually pretty good. They have fairly recently released movies, and I actually watch them because I can't be fucked to go and actually watch them on international flights more than any other time, and it allows me to stay up to date on some of the films that are coming out. There are also entire seasons of TV shows. Once I watched the only 2 movies I was interested in on a 14 hour leg from Heathrow to Abu Dhabi, so I watched like a dozen episodes of Always Sunny.

By contrast I flew 1st class on AA from Heathrow to O'Hare, and they couldn't even be bothered to retrofit their shitty plane with TVs. The fat old airhostess with thrown together makeup distributed little laptop style media players and Bose headphones to plug into it. You had to physically slide it into a plastic holder in the back of the next seat, in my case I was seated next to the bulkhead (right at the front), so at least I didn't have to deal with someone else reclining and fucking with my shit. Finally their media selection is literally 3 movies released 8 months ago and a bunch of shit that is either old or nobody gives a fuck about, a random assortment of TV show episodes (you will be lucky to even get 2 continuous episodes) and basically no good music. The food is usually kinda crappy too.

AA has newer planes that are less shit but the issues still remain on a deeper level, you can tell that they visibly give less of a shit and are cutting corners. Etihad and Emirates feel like they are going all out on giving you a premium experience. Why would I waste my time on international flights with AA again when I can go somewhere I know I'll get guaranteed premium service?

if I owned an airline I wouldn't give a shit about making sure EVERYBODY had EVERY episode of EVERY movie and TV show they liked either

That's why you don't own an airline.

Having a decent selection isn't hard. If Emirates and Etihad can do it, so can AA. If your customers are paying $12000 for a ticket, bet your ass they want a good media selection.

Or even give more than 1 or 2 episodes of the same TV show. FFS.

I don't think I'd be charging 12k per flight either

They need to charge that much. Airlines don't make as much on economy passengers, and you can't really shave a lot off that for 1st and business. The value addition to first and business is where the margin is. You could take away the entertainment service but that still wouldn't offset whatever you will probably lose because your upper tier passengers would rather pay $500 more for a good flight experience. Of course I'm not paying 12K for the food or entertainment, but it is lube for the fucking I'll get anyway on legroom.

Don't airlines receive massive subsidies? If they can't make money without incentives then there shouldn't even be a first class.

I uh have no proof of this... and don't fell like backing this position with facts

    Fuck airlines!!

After you have done it 100s of times, there is nothing fun about flying. For business passengers who frequently fly long distances, upgrading is simply about making the journey tolerable. I would probably kill myself if all my international flights were in Economy.

Nobody runs an airline to merely "make it work" aside from governments themselves, why the fuck would I operate a business that risky and low margin if I'm not making a profit somewhere? The point of the subsidies is usually to make air travel more accessible. They're making it work by making profit on premium service. More space per person = less people per unit space = less tickets sold. Value addition means they can offer something for a low cost relative to the value it generates for the customers, and they compete on this basis in order to charge higher prices. Something like media licensing (and maintaining your entertainment service) is a really small, lumped cost that provides value across your entire fleet.

The prices they charge are fixed around where they are because they are at or near equilibrium. The question is justifying that cost, not bringing it down.
