Fine, and I agree that's not great on a like "this is the kind of country I want to live in" sense, but it's not a violation of 14th amendment rights as it's not indefinite. If ICE is holding people indefinitely, and I certainly don't support that, it's separate from the legal issue the supreme court is ruling on.

I mean I might be willing to go in on the unethical claim (although I can certainly understand the reason for the legislation too) but it doesn't seem unconstitutional to me. "Equal protection" does not grant aliens all the rights citizens or make every law apply to every person. Section 1226 is a law targeted at aliens, the same as any immigration law is, same as something like DACA which presumable you support. The face that we have laws that pertain to aliens but not citizens isn't an equal protections issue.

*Incorrect that they said 'deported' and not 'deportable'. Literally scroll up.

    What?

The governing body state must treat an individual in the same manner as others in similar conditions and circumstances

The conditions and circumstances of citizens and immigrants after release because... one group are citizens and have a right to continue to live in the country while the other is not.

    ...

It doesn't matter if you are here illegally, on a visa, a permanent resident, natural citizen, or whatever. Before this decision, everybody had the same rights unless you were suspected of terrorism. Before the patriot act, everybody had the same rights period.

But now you can get imprisoned for no reason. Just because they're making a decision on whether or not to deport you.

It's not the getting deported part that anybody has an issue with.

Again, equal protection is not about everyone in the country having the same rights

"You no longer have a legal right to be in this country" doesn't seem like no reason to me.

Then you want to just deport the fuckers quick. I agree with you. No need to let them linger. We need to get rid of them quick.

    Are you retarded.

You are not imprisoned when you are going to get deported. You are imprisoned when you are deportable. There are people, like in the link above, who were imprisoned and then it was decided not to deport them. These people get locked up for no reason.

Sounds like the reason is that they're in the country illegally, which isn't "no reason". Dumb fuckin' beaner.

Yes. That is due process of law. A fair and speedy trial with just punishment.

You don't understand what you're talking about, clearly.

Maybe if they wrote the constitution in Mexican you'd be able to understand it better.

They didn't decide not to deport him though?

Oh no that's awful, imagine if American citizens could be locked up and detained until a trial at which they're found innocent.

But I'm right, so clearly you don't understand the issue. I thought we'd established this.
