The grand ol US of A -- always and forever. I have been privileged to visit nearly every US state and have meals/food in each -- each has something exciting and delicious -- but one place has been my absolute fav -- Queens NY -- street vendor on corner by Federal Courthouse -- the food: a huge Italian kraut sausage dog. Nothing like it, beforr or since; though the Philly steak & cheese in Philly holds a close second.

I love Kentucky. I loved it before I ever visited. It just feels good, like home. It’s very hard to explain. I also love Coeur d'Alene Idaho. It’s been many years since I’ve been there, but it was the same thing as KY ... it just so good 😊

What has been the most recent hurdle or challenge you have overcome and in the end has improved you as a person or your life?

Idk if I'd call it entirely "overcome" yet....but heroin 13 years of heroin addiction, homelessness, a massive car crash, $22,000 in debt, shit relationship with my mom, a coordinated drug bust and the subsequent investigation (although I was never arrested), and massive depression that had me wanting to kill myself. Again- not entirely dealt with, but all those things are miles away from where I was even a year ago.

I think it has made me better. I wish it didn't take so much turbulence and chaos to shake me back awake, but I'm honestly not sure I would've liked the person I would've been without it. I'm able to have much more human connections and conversations with people, having gone through the stuff I have. It's kind of like a superpower. When you suffer deeply, it sort of taps you into the essence of life and peace, and what it means to be human, alive. It's so much easier to relate to anyone after that.

So many things...but immediate thoughts though, some powerful music, David Arkenstone's "Marathon runner", and "Explorers", as I ran with my grandfather and father on the beach in Spain in my thoughts. It was 2012 when I was there last.... We run long, and run hard, Then they leave me on the earthen beach, and they ascend when we all reach the rocks and I have to slow down... I see them get smaller and higher... and I know I have much more running on the long beaches to do, and I'm happy about it... I WILL run more for them. Th ends of these songs are haunting and happy for me. but it gets to me now and then.

What favorite candy made you happy when you were in your single digits of life?
