There isn't even anything resembling a consistent logical thread running through western conservatism, it's almost meaningless to talk about across any significant span of time as it is, by definition, resistance to cultural change in a broad range of cultures that have changed in just about every way a culture can change. Conservatism entails a defense of both monarchy and democracy, a strong and a weak state, caste systems and equal opportunity.
