Study came out recently... 94% of millennials do not own a hammer, or a screwdriver, or a drill, and cannot change a car tire.

Own several drills. Only one working battery operated drill though. Those things are basically disposable as they charge as much to replace a battery as it costs to buy a new drill. Have several older corded drills with keyed Jacobs chucks that still work after probably 40 or so years. Have a couple of newer, more powerful drills with keyless chucks as well as a large 8.2 amp DeWalt hammer drill with a half inch chuck. Also own a floor stand model drill press that I think is 16 speeds.

    Tools...they aren't an expense...they're an investment.

The radio comment was satire about how today's tools are (usually) a lot less serious than good old-fashioned corded tools. Don't get me wrong as battery powered tools can be a joy to work with by not having to be tethered to an electrical cord. But, like I said, I've still got working 40 year old corded drills. On the other hand, I've used and thrown away 9.6, 12, and 18 volt drills and currently own a 20 volt lithium ion brushless drill that I love. It'll just be a shame when it's time to shitcan it too.
