12 years of Catholic school here. Some of the nuns in grade school were like drill instructors.
Our soccer coach was a guy from Germany (not a teacher, probably not even paid) who was a chef at a fancy local restaurant and drove a Shelby Cobra. He ended up in prison for molesting several of my teammates as well as later players. He befriended the parents of those players by cooking meals and taking those boys under his wing. He eventually got sick in prison (a REALL, REALLY bad case of hemorrhoids?) and they set him free to die on his own and didn't pay his medical expenses. GOOD JOB!
The only real incident I remember from high school was one morning when I arrived at school, everyone was talking about one of our teachers having gotten arrested the night before for child molestation with someone not from our school. He was not one of the brothers but one of the lay teachers. Never saw or heard of any evidence of him doing anything improper with any of my fellow students.

Oh damn this thread is making me sad. Still haven’t had a chance to ask my son about his coaches, although I’d like to think he’d tell me. I was usually one of the team “Moms” and had many dealings with the coaches.
I remember how I explained to him to tell me if anyone was inappropriate with him. His visit to the pediatrician around age 3. She checked his penis, at that exact time I told him no one is to touch his privates for any reason except his doctor or myself. The pediatrician chimed in and explained that people might threaten him if he told anyone, but she told him he could tell her. We reinforced this a couple more times.
I’m gonna talk to him after work today.
