   They have dogs trained now to smell certain cancers.
   Despite what some claim, the human sense of smell is still amazingly sensitive, most people don't even realise it. You just realise stuff without knowing why. Sometimes it's a 6th sense thing, often it's just you recognise a smell.

   I think I read something once about dogs that could smell diabetics and sense when their blood sugar had dropped. I might’ve dreamed that up.

    no, its true. i know a dude who literally has a 'service dog' that follows him around in public. the dude claims the dog has 'alerted' to his blood sugar being low several times.
    
    i used to work with a dude who was diabetic that i would swear smelled like 'sickly-sweet' (i dont know how to describe the smell) before hed go into one of his diabetic break-dance routines.
