   DH (the only other site I have joined) was able to list a great line of page numbers on its site that was both, visible and usable on the small screen.
   
   Additionally, DH was capable of posting a group of smilies on its site, not the actual code but the little critters themself. Posters enjoy the smilies to express their emotion. They do not want to do the coding, they expect the site admin to provide the basics.
   
   Wouldn't your site be more attractive, and colorful, not to mention attracting new members, if you provided a variety of features for the members?

   In general as screens get smaller there's higher contention for space and content needs to be cut, also touch screens require larger content as the input method is less percise so there's two factors pushing towrds reducing the number of things on the screen. Fully listed pagination is usualy one of the less important features so that's why it's gone. If you have an example of a UI that manages usable full pagination on small devices then I'd be happy to look at it though. I don't think datehotel is up anymore, do you have a screen shot or something?

   WYSIWYG editors on the web is a whole barrel of monkeys, if that's what you mean. I just don't like them on principle, but the reason we use bbcode and shortcode here is because they don't operate without javascript, and support nojs users was an explicit design goal.

   I'm a little skeptical that there's anyone whose decision to join hinges on the presence of absence of smilies.
   
   I don't mean to say shortcode is the be all end all, but every feature is a tradeoff that needs to be considered in the context of what a piece of software is trying to do, and the aim of this software is not particularly to generate a "colorful" experience.
