What's "your drink"?

2016-07-08 at 9:47 PM UTCOstensibly that reduces to your go-to alcohol, the kind of thing the bartender starts making when you walk through the door if you're a barfly, beer doesn't count. Also, if you know it, what are your parents drinks? I was at a bar with some people a few weeks ago and a dude ordered an old fashioned, people looked at him kinda wierd because this is San Francisco and people are into faggy drinks that involve flowers and eggs and not a lot of alcohol, and his response was "it was my dad's drink, now it's my drink" and I thought that was kinda interesting.
Anyway, for me it's a gin gimlet. My dad was into vodka martinis because he was bitch made when it came to drinking, my mom drinks gin and tonics.
Something kinda funny; my grandpa was born in Tennessee but moved to California as a teenager, grew up in the depression era in a very poor household but managed to work his way up to fairly high society, belonged to various professional societies over the years, lives in one of the nicest (by popular opinion at least) areas of southern california. Once you get to know him the tension between a "low class" upbringing and his current situation is clearly an important part of his psychology. Anyway, he drinks bourbon manhattans, the kind of symbolism there always tickled me, like I think of bourbon as being generally cheap, vaguely southern, proletariat, but mix it with some french wine and serve it in a cocktail glass and it becomes something you'd find in a tastefully decorated, if somewhat dimly lit, bar with aging patrons.

just do meth so your body needs twice the calories and you will find it impossible to keep weight on unless you work out a lot. -

Good for the urinary tract I guess. Pass on the vodka tho. A bloody mary is the only vodka drink I enjoy these days. -

A man walks into a bar. The bartender asks him "what'll ya have". The man replies "whatever you fuckin' have". The bartender pauses a moment, stares at the man, and then asks "yeah, but what do you actually want? We got stuff to make whatever". The man stands there, paralyzed, he only wants what they have but in the headlights of such selection he is frozen. The bar is only a few hundred square feet and yet behind the bar they seem to have packed a vast ocean of liquor. The man's mind races as the combinatorial problem quietly mounts in the corner. A long moment passes and the bartender remains, waiting to take the man's order. Then, all of the sudden, something seems to click in the man's mind. Drenched in sweat, trembling slightly from the effort he realizes. He reaches slowly for his wallet, contorting his face as if about to place his order and then bolts for the door. The problem is intractable he realizes, he wants, no yearns, for whatever they have but in all the vast strings in the english language he can not summon a one to aid him. So realizing the futility of his endeavor he does the only thing he can: he flees the scene of the crime, never to return. "This is hell he thinks", but with the exertion of his mad dash for the door comes a certain clarity. He realizes in that crystalline moment "but it should never have been otherwise".

whenever I go to bars I just ask for a jack and coke, or a shot of knob creek, or something like that.
I do like white russians, but I don't normally have those anymore.
a whiskey sour is good. I like to keep it fairly simple.
Dirty martinis are good, but again I don't normally have those either.
My parents would either drink wine, or a gin and tonic.. I (hate gin), or a coke and bourbon
I'm not a big vodka guy anymore, I used to love it as a teenager, but I'm not really into it anymore. Though I did have a greygoose grapefruit drink this girl at the job I just quit made for me and it was pretty good. I like grapefruit a lot so thats probably why.

Yeah, I never thought I'd gain weight ,but I have the last year from drinking teh beer and being in my late 20's. And I'm actually looking into a way on how to get rid of my belly fat, along with handeling my alcoholism.

Also brandy, and this kinda' mix drink that's made with peach tree and prosecco. Call me a hipster faggot but i enjoy sweet drinks with little alcohol more than whiskey in example. Unless you have a fancy, properly aged whiskey of course.

My gin of choice is Gordon’s and for rum I drink Cruzan or Admiral Nelson’s. I know Admiral Nelson’s has a bad reputation, but it’s cheap and it tastes ok.
Neither of my parents drink now, but my dad used to drink Jack and Cokes and my mom has only drank a few times in her life and only beer.

Yeah, I never thought I'd gain weight ,but I have the last year from drinking teh beer and being in my late 20's. And I'm actually looking into a way on how to get rid of my belly fat, along with handeling my alcoholism.
I've been back and forth between the upper end of healthy body weight and overweight since I was like 13, my metabolism is like tar and I sit on my ass all day so it's easy to put on the pounds. Recently I started doing one of the "calorie counter" app things on a bet with a friend and jesus, like half of the time I drink more calories in alcohol than I eat. Booze adds up I guess.

I used to really like sweet drinks, and sweet things in general. Rum and coke was the first thing I drank regularly. The sugar isn't great for you though, makes the hangover worse, and it's harder to overdrink with like a straight rye or something. Still, my go-to drinks are mostly gins with something mildly sweet.when I do drink, vanilla coke and southern comfort. Reminds me of highschool. You probably lucked out, alcohol is a pretty shitty vice, I can't really bring myself to enjoy weed for mostly the same reason but I wish I could. I imagine it doesn't kill you half as fast plus I just can't function when stoned so there would be a natural limit on how much I could smoke.

I love Gordon's, it's cheap as hell around here too. I've had a lot of gins, even "top shelf" stuff doesn't taste as good in a G&T or gimlet as Gordon's, at least to me. I prefer Bombay sapphire in a negroni and hendricks for drinking straight, if you're into that kind of thing, but otherwise I think Gordon's is just the best gin out there.Vodka, baileys or a mix of the two, they're the two that my mum drank so I guess I got it from her and also cider but I'm a poor brit so that should be expected.
Do you drink bailey's straight? I mean I like the taste of it but I've never actually seen anyone not mix it with something.
