I seriously want a Threadripper build but last time I priced it bare minimum was around 6k, 8-12k for something nice and there weren't many motherboards to choose from -

I don't have any practical reason to use a Linux distro for my basic computing.
I can acknowledge all the nerd benefits to it but ultimately Windows is the best OS to fulfill my computing needs because it's simple and it works. 0% of my time is devoted to tinkering with, fixing or figuring things out on my PC any more.
Part of my use is PC gaming, which is overwhelmingly better on Windows. -

The gaming thing is what I mentioned - AMD's driver support in Lunix is becoming outstanding (Nvidia's is workable but not great); roughly 1/3 of my steam library has Lunix ports and for the other stuff, you can run WINE (using Lutris to manage it makes the system very easy to use) with very little performance loss for the most part (varies by title).
Windows' paradigm has become far too untrustworthy lately - too many operations run without permission or even informing the user, their telemetry modules pervade everything and they have literally no regard for privacy. They no longer even release changelogs so you have no idea what's being installed by updates that are performed constantly and silently. -

This is a sensible argument that has made me reconsider my views. -
