how to quit drugs?

  1. #1
I have to see a friend who I haven't seen in like a couple years and he's been off hard drugs for a long time now so I don't want to be all on meth and addicted to Crouton and shit when I see him because then I'll feel guilty just needing to get fucked up the entire time. Anyways, anyone have any ideas?

The best way to rid yourself of a bad habit is to replace it with a new one.

Yeah pretty much. Which is tough because drugs, when you're in the shit, are more fun than anything else.

Daily an(nu)ally [dissolutely whisk the pantheon]
Eat extremely healthy - only meat and vegetables and fruit
But keep doing drugs. Hit the gym really hard every other day
    Keep doing drugs
After 4 or 5 days you will feel A LOT better even though you're still on drugs
Spend one day just smoking cigarettes, weed and drinking alcohol. Resume eating as healthy as possible
Don't skip the gym, go ESPECIALLY when you have a hangover or feel awful
A shit workout is objectively better than no workout
If you can last an entire 24 hours only smoking cigarettes, weed and drinking alcohol
You are 50% there. That first day was the hardest. You've fixed your diet and you workout
Do the same shit on day 2 - just smoke and drink.
Day 3 or 4 or 5 - just drink and smoke cigarettes or just drink and smoke weed
Just subtract one of the drugs
Do this again after 3 or 4 or 5 days until you only smoke or only drink
Then spend one day binging whatever food you want and skipping the gym and being lazy
But not on drugs. The fucked up food binge is the drug on this holy day
Go back to smoking weed or have a drink for 1 day. Then alternate between sober days
and lite drug days (weed/alcohol). Eventually you will be able to take 2 days off drugs
    Then 3, then 4.
But let's be honest OP. You don't want to quit drugs. You just want to appear to be off
drugs to your friend. So this is only a temporary thing in your head
If it's temporary in your head, it will be temporary in reality. Good luck

addiction is just lack of self-control, so learn self-control.

Is there an observable difference between addiction and habit or does that difference only exist in the person's head

    No.

Each person's path to sobriety is different. No one here can tell you what is gonna work for you. I went from shooting heroin and slamming crack in my neck, living in a dilapidated trailer, arrested every other week, to only drinking on the weekends, happily married, and a business owner. Quite successful at that. I am about to celebrate 10 years clean from heroin, cocaine, meth, and drugs in general. Minus the alcohol, of course.

For me, personally, prison is the only thing that broke my drug addiction. I withdrew in county jail. They held me in a medical ward as I puked and shit all in their cell, even smearing it on the windows once in a demand for something more than Pepto Bismol. (It worked, I got "Phenobarbital with Belladonna Alkaloids" or so the large brown bottle said.)

2 1/2 years in prison, kinda gave me the time I needed to reflect and realize I was wasting my life. Literally. I woke up and spent every waking second using benzos/opiates or crack. I lived for it. That's all I cared about. It wasn't much of a life. Many times, I said silent prayers to God, "Please let this be the last one" before I shot up the drugs. Fucking low, man.

So, knowing that no one wants to intentionally go to prison, I can't really give you advice. It's gonna take a shitload of willpower, dedication, responsibility, etc. Maybe you're one of those people who once they make up their mind, that's it. Make up your mind that you're done.

The whole AA/NA story of "I hit rock bottom and I knew I needed help" does hold some truths, even though I think the group is a shitshow. You do need to hit a low point to realize, "I am fucking up" before you make change.

People, places, things. Is another from AA/NA that holds truths. You can't hang out with the same people, go to the same places, and do the same things that you have done while using drugs - at least not when you're trying to stop. We're creatures of habit. We like to do the same things, with the same people, at the same time, and the same place. Break that habit.

i couldn't imagine not using at all but i realized that it doesn't have to be an everyday thing. i swear coz everywhere tells you that 'once you start using it controls you' bullshit. so everyone goes into it with that mindset and then just rolls with it. its just about self-control ffs, that's all it is. just coz you used today you don't have to use tomorrow. just gotta adjust your thinking to see it as an occasional treat, like going to a fucking movie or ball game or summing.

lol i actually met my gf's mom a lil while ago and smoked teckerson last night.

shit was hilarious i got home at midnight and this guy was smoking me out out side and there was literally someone in the bushes watching us and the cops pulled up so i was like , bud can we just go in your place for a bit and he didn't even answer and I walked into his place and there was this naked guy smoking icecream from a bong watching gay porn and almost shit himself lol.

after a few passes I was like weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel gonts! gotta run! and took a bunch of bendadryl and crashed and then met my gfs mom. It was cool because she was drinking mimosas and just generally acting like a drunkard for a lady her age. Even my gf was cringed out lol

youre looking at this the wrong way. what you need to do is bring copious quantities of various illicit substances then consume them in a slow manner right in front of him and generously offering to share with him.

What I always tell people is:

Drugs have to be used for a purpose. The drugs can't BE the purpose. If you use them for escape, realize that it's only temporary and that you'll still have to face what you're trying to escape from when you come down.

It helps that I've found a few legal substances (or gray area substances) that I can thoroughly enjoy, so I don't have to see a dealer (or about getting sucked into the social aspect of drug use) or worry about failing a drug test

I am also addicted to Crouton though, and I used too much phenibut last week and am having to taper down so I might not be the best person to ask for advice

I tried sobriety and sobriety+Crouton but it just wasn't for me.
