Well, when he said MTV used to be hip, he meant it was a hip vehicle for musicians to use to flog their wares. Then MTV eventually just turned into a free source of someone else's music, because they no longer put any value on their content or their artists. Just like Facebook. It started out as really hip to use to promote and flog your stuff, but now it's just a cesspool of idiocy, scams and garbage. With dedicated musicians, you just have to read between the lines. The only thing that really matters to them, the only things their whole world revolves around, is fame and fortune. So when they say something is "gone", or "not hip anymore", they mean it in the sense that it's become useles to them to obtain their objectives. -
